I'm Trisha Daniell. I've been teaching music in the South Cowichan Valley since I moved here more than 30 years ago. I trained in New Zealand through Trinity College and the University of Canterbury, and have associate diplomas in both cello and piano, as well as B.A and B.Mus.degrees. I started teaching Yamaha piano in Calgary many years ago, in group lessons for young students. I moved to the Island when my family was young, and have been here teaching privately since, both piano and cello, as well as theory. I'm the mother of three adult children, the grandmother of three little ones, and love working with students of all ages. I'm also proud to be a host parent to international students for over 20 years!
I'm the principal cellist in the Cowichan Consort orchestra, the pipe organist at Shawnigan Lake School,
and a church organist; and I'm the local Centre Representative for The Royal Conservatory Of Music.
I'm delighted to be joined by my daughter Eve Daniell as a colleague. Eve teaches piano, theory and voice.
Private piano, voice, theory or cello lessons are once a week, for 30, 45 or 60 minutes, with the teaching year matching the public school year.
Although I encourage all students to learn the traditional basic skills of classical music, many also enjoy chording, jazz and popular. I welcome adult students as well as children, and we all enjoy the ‘novice adult performer’ recital at the end of the year where new friendships are formed, and sympathy and support shared! Separate recitals for younger students and for adults
usually happen twice a year.
My studio, Dandelion Music, is located on Partridge Rd in Mill Bay, uphill from the shopping centre.
